The DOGWOOD CUP competition will have a new twist this year! The competition will be presented as an on-stage program for the membership where designers will be interpreting the idea of "Life of a Mountain Bog", an art exhibit that will be on display at the Arboretum. Each contestant will be given a table space to work on. Designs will be done and displayed after the program on the same table. The design must be within the 32" x 30" removable board that will be provided as the design will be on display the next week at the Arboretum and also featured on our new website. All designs must fit on the provided board or will be disqualified. Height of the design must not exceed 46 inches. Each contestant will be provided with the same flowers. All hard goods, container or containers will be provided by the contestant. You may preset your foam but no insertion in any manner may be applied until time is called to start. Each designer may bring 3 items of their choosing to enhance their design for creativity and uniqueness. No silk or permanent product of any kind may be used. No hot glue, cold glue or spray aerosol may be used when designing. When time has been called you may not touch your board or design in any manner. The contestant will have 15 minutes to clean their table and floor area and remove product, tools etc. (You may have one person assisting you.) Each contestant MUST dress as a professional stage designer, black pants and white tops preferably required.
Dogwood Cup entrants MUST be a past winner of the NC Jim Treadaway Competition and a past Designer of the Year to be eligible to compete. Designers will be judged during stage presentation and on their completed design. The competition will be commentated as the designs are being created.
